For this project, I developed a tourism logo for Ubud, a district in Bali recognized as a cultural and spiritual center.

Balinese art is richly ornate by nature. The challenge was to distill that complexity into something scalable without losing its soul. The design needed to feel at home on both a screen and a temple gate.
Religion shapes life in Ubud, where temples, rituals, and ceremonial art are part of daily routines. For local people, traditional art often carries symbolic meaning. Visitors from around the world are drawn to Ubud's stories and unique style. With this in mind, the logo design features an important figure from Balinese temples, making the mark meaningful within the culture and geographically placeable to a global audience.

Early concepts drew from the iconography of Ubud’s historic temples: Naga, the water-guardian serpent, a symbol of protection and spiritual power; Bagong, the lion-like King of Spirits; and Candi Bentar, the spikey split temple entrances that mark the threshold between the earthly and spiritual worlds.

The design centers on a statue of Barong at Pura Dalem, a Hindu temple built around 1350 that remains a cornerstone of Ubud’s religious and community life. Barong serves as a symbol that is widely recognizable and locally significant.
